About

This is a midcareer archive. For contemporary data, I’ve created a “cover page,” here.

This blog, The MTK independent, was created in the 10th Anniversary year of Fifty Foot Pine Tree Press, born April 25th, 2002, in Los Angeles, California, USA.

In 2012, while making this blog to collect and archive works and writings, I also blogged contemporaneously that year, posting several times a week with photographs of baseball games, flora, fauna and landscapes; and with poetry, performance, film and book reviews, essays and topical news pieces.

All the photographs, videos, audio, texts, performances or installations described on this site are copyright the artist and author, M.T. Karthik. Please inform me in comments if you use, credit MTK or M.T. Karthik

About MTK

The M. is for Madras, birthplace, and the T. for Thyagarajan, father, a naming convention from where I was born: Madras, Tamil Nadu, India. (now known as Chennai)

In the 30+ years covered here, I became a U.S. citizen and an Overseas Citizen of India and circled the world four times; living and working in the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, New York City, New Orleans, Japan, India, Texas and Taiwan. I’ve been a father for a decade.

This is by far the most extensive blog I’ve composed.

Thanks to all visitors. I’m lucky and happy my site gets hits from many different countries around the world. You are welcome here. Feel free to translate and post elsewhere under MTK SFBay.

There is no why, but here’s a note on process, a sketch of how I visualized this blog before I started:
